Mangaluru to change totally by 2025’: MLA Vedavyas Kamath at ‘Meet the Press’

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Oct 5: “In spite of the pandemic situation, a Rs 3,000 crore grant has been sanctioned for the development of Mangaluru city. Several projects have been started. The complete picture of Mangaluru will totally change in 2025," said MLA Vedavyas Kamath.

He was speaking to mediaperson in ‘Meet the Press’ programme organised by Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists' Association, Press Club and Patrika Bhavana Trust here on Tuesday October 5.

He said, “Rs 25 crore has been sanctioned for the development of the third phase of fishing jetty and another Rs Rs 74 crore for the disposal of waste at the old dumping yard in Pacchanady. Work on Jalasiri programme to provide 24 hours drinking water is under process. In 2025, the project will be completed.

“A floating jetty worth Rs 6 crore will be constructed for development of fisheries. Retaining walls on the sides of Rajakaluve to prevent the artificial flood worth Rs 35 crore will be built. There is also a proposal to start a film city as well. Foundation stone was laid for a sports complex at Urwa during the tenure of the former MLA. Rs 10 crore grant was sanctioned by the Youth Service and Sports department but was withdrawn later. The process to bring back the grant is done. The work will start very soon.

“With ABD loan worth Rs 400 crore, development of old drains is going on in the city. The tender process for a multi-level car parking at the old bus stand is in process. The tender process for works worth Rs 120 crore under Mahatma Gandhi Vikas Yojana is completed, and the matter of construction of 11-storey central market building is in the court. A 200-ventilator bed in Wenlock hospital is ready now,” he said.

Journalist Srinivas Indaje welcomed and RC Bhat compered. Ibrahim Adkasta was present.

When is the opening ceremony of Urwa Market, Toilets near Pumpwell. Constructed years back, but still waiting for dignitaries from US & EUROPE for ribbon cutting? By the time it opens, half of it's life expectancy will be over. Please change this picture. Bring jobs to local people, give jobs to locals in SEZ, ONGC-MRPL, NMPT, Smart city, GAIL. Without jobs, picture cannot be changed so easily. All the smart City work which is going on, there are no locals involved, all are outsiders. All the locals spread all over the world in search of jobs, only elder people are in their houses. Even those retired elders who are well off are settled in foreign nations.

The recent developments clearly indicate that Mangalore is already changed and continue to change for the worst. It's only a matter of time and people in power are adding fuel to the fire. Keep running the bullet trains without tracks and rakes, so that the voters remain intoxicated with these daily doses of feku tonic.

You are right sir. Mangalore will definitely change. Official language will be Hindi. Official food will be Aalu Gobi. Mangalore will be a hub for toxic waste. Pollution will be at its peak by allowing SEZ to chop trees and releasing toxic waste.. people will die of disease because of pollution. Moral police will take over Mangalore police department.

Theres no Drainage in Surathkal...Crores spent earlier on Under ground works and not a Spoonful of water has being drained off !!...Calls for a CBI Enquiry... So much for being a Smart City..!
