Kasargod: Assault, robbery of Rs 65 lac from gold transporting agent - Three arrested

Kasargod, Oct 6: Police arrested three in connection to a robbery case where Rs 65 lac was robbed from an agent transporting gold at Mogral Puthur on Kumble-Kasargod nation highway. A team led by Kasargod DySP Balakrihnan Nair arrested the accused.

The arrested are Binoy Baby (25) of Elathuruth of Thrissur, Akhil Tommy (24) of Naduvayal and Anu Shaju(28) of Pulpalli in Wayanad. All three were arrested from Thrissur. The accused were arrested on the basis of CCTV footage.

The robbery had taken place on September 22. After attacking the gold agent from Maharashtra who was on a car, the accused had robbed the cash. After registering a case, Kasargod police formed a special team to nab the accused.

The police recovered crucial evidence from the CCTV footage collected from Kasargod and Kannur. The police also collected CCTV footage of the car used in the offence and images of the accused. Hence, police continued their probe in Kannur, Wayanad and Thrissur. The police also gathered information of other accused and vehicle used in the crime. It is said that the accused will be produced to the court on Thursday and they will be sought for police custody for further inquiry.
