Bengaluru, Oct 10: Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Mansukh L Mandaviya inaugurated the Institute of Gastro Entrology Sciences and Organ Transplant super speciality hospital, which is also a Covid field hospital, in the Victoria Hospital campus in Bengaluru on Sunday.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar participated in the function.
The Union Minister appreciated the Covid management and vaccination campaign carried out by Karnataka, especially the Health Vision chalked out by the Chief Minister for improving the health infrastructure.
Though the Covid pandemic is under control but the country is yet to be free from the danger, he said it was necessary for all governments to be cautious and vigilant. In such a situation, the decision of Karnataka to establish a field hospital which can be easily moved from place to place as and when necessary is very laudable and a far-sighted move.
The Chief Minister, in his speech, appreciated the steps of corporate entities to provide assistance to help the government in improving health infrastructure facilities and joining hands with the government.
Bommai said the State Government was determined the build a healthy Karnataka and make all efforts to ensure health facilities to the people across the State.
The Chief Minister warmly lauded the efforts of GeethanjaliKirloskar, head of the CSR fund disbursement team, and assured that more field hospitals would be established in backward regions and districts where they were necessary. He appealed more and companies to contribute their CSR funds to the government for improving health infrastructure.
Nokia, Texas Instruments and many other companies have extended financial assistance under their CSR funds to the field hospital inaugurated.
Bengaluru Central MP P C Mohan and MLA Uday Garudachar were among the participants in the function.
