Karantotsav – 2010 Held in Metro

Karantotsav – 2010, the annual Dr Shivaram Karant’s memorial programme was held at Karnataka Sangha auditorium, Matunga, here on Saturday, October 23.
 
The veteran Kannada litterateur and playwright Dr G V Kulkarni was the chief guest who offered tributes to the late Dr Shivaram Karant on the occasion.
 


Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kulkarni said that Dr Karant will ever remain in the history of Kannada literature because of his extraordinary contributions.  He had discontinued his college studies, in order to take part in freedom struggle along with Mahatma Gandhi, he added.
 
Kannada’s both legendary litterateurs Dr Karant and Da Ra Bendre had clear vision in their life and also respected family values during their lifetime, said Dr Kulkarni.
 
Sadanand Suvarna, Cultural Foundation director, in his introductory address said that the aim of organizing Karantotsav annually has the objective of informing the extraordinary contributions of Kannada’s great litterateur Dr Shivaram Karant to the new generation.

Sadanand Suvarna Cultural Foundation organized the event.
 
As part of the Karantotsav, drawing competition was conducted. The winners were awarded with prizes.
 
The programme began with the prayer led by students of Kannada Bhavan High School.  Karantotsav committee president Dr Vyasa Rao Ninjoor welcomed the gathering.  The Foundation secretary S K Sundar proposed the vote of thanks.  Gopal Trasi compered the programme.
