Karnataka government orders 'Gopuja' on Diwali festival at all temples

Bengaluru, Oct 26 (IANS): The Karnataka government has ordered to perform 'Gopuja' (worship of cow) at all temples that come under Muzrai department in Karnataka on the occasion of Deepavali (Dewali) festival on Tuesday.

The order directs to conduct worshipping of cows at temples on 'Balipaadyami' celebrated as the last leg of Deepavali between 5.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. which falls under the auspicious time of 'Godhooli lagna', according to Hindu calendar.

The order has been given with the objective of following the traditions of Hindu culture and according to godly status to cows. The order has been given by the department of Hindu Religious Institutions and Religious Endowment.

It is in the Hindu tradition that during Balipaadyami, people will get their cows bathed, embellished with vermillion, Haldi, flowers and offer them rice, jaggery in Karnataka and other parts of the country.

The order has been given with a view to carry forward the Sanatan Hindu religious tradition of worshipping cows.

The order states that once in a year during the time of Deepavali, all temples and religious institutions that come under the purview of the Muzrai department should compulsorily conduct the ceremony of worshipping of cows. It is just a decision in terms of carrying forward the Hindu tradition according to sacred texts.

The orders explain that, as per the above directions, during the festival of Deepavali every year, the temple authorities should get the cows bathed, embellish and revere them as per Hindu traditions and offer them bananas, jaggery and other dishes.

Dear Felvin, this is BJP police to appease hindus to get thier vote. In reality they have no respect or love for cow. If they really worship cow as their God, they should object and ask central Govt to stop slaughtering of hundreds of cows in Gujra by brahmin owned Beef exporting houses. Many goshalas in karnataka are supplying cows to these beef exporters and this is the reason it is prohibited to public in the state.

Karnataka government orders 'Gopuja' on Diwali festival at all temples. A Hindu man, a Jewish man, and a Polish man. After walking for a few miles, they come across a farm with a barn. Desperately seeking a place to sleep for the night, they knock on the door and ask the farmer if they can sleep in the barn. The farmer says it's OK as long as they don't disturb his sleep or the animals, so the three men go to sleep in the barn with all the animals. Fifteen minutes later, the Hindu man bangs on the farmer's door and asks if he can sleep on the floor of his room, because he cannot sleep with sacred cows next to him. The farmer says it's OK and lets him in. In another fifteen minutes, the Jewish man bangs on the farmer's door and asks if he can sleep on the floor of his room, because he cannot sleep with pigs next to him, and the farmer says this is OK. Now only the Polish man is outside. Fifteen minutes later, the farmer hears another knock on the door, and by this time is very annoyed. He opens it, and there stand the cows and the pigs. Happy Deepavali to all and special greeting to all Indian Cows.

Dear Veer from Nagpur, Govt did not matter for 70 years on triple talaq, vande mataram and bursting crackers when Pakis won cricket match over India. Gopuja is about respecting. Not sar-tan-se juda of kafirs. Follow Govt orders or go to court against the order or even better shut your illogical trap bereft of logic.

Mr. Mayya, are you a vegetarian by any chance ? I ask this because you said to ignore those "who have infinite appetite for beef and politics associated with it". What is your opinion if people who eat fish, chicken, mutton are told to be ignored ? What would you feel if you come within this category ? Look man, even eating vegetarian food hurts it's source. So, should people live on water/air ? Nevertheless, I would appreciate if you offer your pearly phrases to those too, who milk the cows and drive them out on the roads to eat from garbage heaps. Agree with you Father's Day, Mother's Day or other days once in a year is comical but ignoring a cow feeding from a garbage heap too is comical then ?

Dear Deshbakht, You are a seminal example of why any argument is a actually a argument, even if it is bereft of logic. You win, if this is what it takes to put forward a logic when there is not. You are funny and "I agree with you". What a shame.

Dear I agree with you but kindly check how cows are treated. Some people tie them on a open ground full day. They not even bother to tie them near tree shade midafternoon. They not even bother to keep little bit water afternoon to wipe their thirst. The same people now pretend like gowrakshakhs.
