Moodbidri, Oct 29: On Thursday October 28, two groups of students, one of which is said to be that of mechanical engineering students and the other, electrical, fought with each other near a private engineering college near Thodar here. Two among the students, identified as Sahaz and Muhammed Swaroob, who were at the receiving end of the attacks, got themselves admitted into the government hospital here.

The students were making preparations for the 'traditional day' programme to be held on Saturday next when the two groups were involved in a verbal altercation initially. Thereafter, the two groups attacked each other, it is said. There are allegations that when the third year students were making preparations, a group of final year students ragged them.
