Kundapur, Nov 1: “Protection of Kannada land and its language is our duty like the poetic verse ‘Kannadave Satya, Kannadave Nithya’ (Kannada is truth, Kannada every day). M Thejasvi has said that the one who knows the mother tongue can digest all other languages. It is necessary to include Kannada language literature and resources in Science, technology and medical sectors. Kannada is the language of our dreams, emotions and life,” said Kundapur sub division assistant commissioner Raju K. He was speaking after hoisting the flag in the Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations held by Kundapur taluk administration at Gandhi maidan here on Monday, November 1.
“Yakshagana has provided a huge contribution to Kannada like poetry and songs. We aspire that Kannada should be the language of technology. Kannada has a history of two and a half thousand years. We have the pride of continuing the tradition of literature, architecture and magnificence. The float of poetry from Pampa, Ranna, Kuvempu, Karanth and Bendre reaching the new generation is the hand held mirror to the wealth of its culture,” he said.
Kundapur municipal council president Veena Bhasker Mendon said that the aroma of Kannada has reached all the ten directions. “The participation of more than twenty lac people in the singing is the witness for it. May the use of Kannada be continuous everywhere,” she said.
Council vice president Sandeep Kharvi, chief executive Gopalakrishna Shetty, former vice president Rajesh Kaveri, members Devaki Sannayya, Prabhaker V, Santhosh Shetty, Kamala Manjunath Poojary, Pushpa Shet, urban development authority president Vijaya S Poojary, Kundapur DySP Srikanth K, block education officer S K Padmanabha, other taluk level officers, department staff, elected representatives and teachers were present.
There was a police march past under the leadership of Kundapur town police station inspector Sadashiva Gavaroji. Kannada songs were sung under the leadership of teacher Prakash.
Kundapur tahsildar Kiran Gorayya welcomed. Youth services and sports officer Kusumaker Shetty rendered vote of thanks. Teacher Chandrashekar Beejadi compered the programme.
