He said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a strong vision of bringing changes in the country and to make India to reach globally. He had a vision to make every city to compete with the cities in America and hence the Smart City concept was introduced. I thank Modi for considering Mangaluru as one of the cities in Smart City and released Rs 500 crore for the same. Students need to make use of the stadium for badminton and swimming. Modi is the Prime Minister who encourages every sportsperson in Olympics whether they win or lose. Mangaluru has seen rapid progress in Smart City development works. I faced a lot of criticism when Mangaluru was not included in the first round of Smart City works. When it was included in the second round, the members who criticised me, did not speak. Two important projects have been taken up at Urwa and Hampankatta under Smart City now.”
