Udupi, Nov 10: It has been 12 days since one of the towering stars of Sandalwood, Puneeth Rajkumar, breathed his last, leaving behind a huge void. His fans, who cherish his memories and grieve over his demise, continue to pay rich tributes to him in different ways.

People from coastal Karnataka too have idolised the Power Star because of his acting prowess and his down to earth nature. They have continued to pay homage to the youth icon in special ways. A portrait of Puneeth was created at Malpe beach by using Rubik's cubes. Mahesh Malpe, who has mastered the art of creating different pictures by using Rubik's cubes since the last some years, gave evidence of his mesmerising skills by creating this replica of the great star. The unique art created by Mahesh at Malpe beach was unveiled on November 9. It has come in for lavish praise from everyone.

Speaking to the media, Mahesh Malpe explained that Puneeth was one of the very few excellent artistes. "We, his fans, never expected that he would leave us so suddenly. Appu (Puneeth) had sweet memories of his visits to Malpe beach. In an interview, he had claimed that Malpe beach happened to be one of his favourite spots. I prepared this art by using 704 Rubik's cubes over the last four days. The cube has only six colours. Being a fan of Puneeth, I never thought that one day I would be paying homage to my hero in this way. It is a challenging job to see the photo of a person and create its replica by using limited colours. To make his memories greener, I created this art out of Rubik's cubes at Malpe," he narrated.
