Bantwal: Court dismisses case of money demanded in Ravi Poojary's name

Bantwal, Nov 18: A court here has dismissed a case pertaining to an alleged call made in the name of Ravi Poojary seeking payment of Rs 25 lac by way of protection money. The call was reportedly received by a resident of Idkidu village here.

This complaint was registered in Vittal police station on July 14, 2010.

Venkataramana Bhat from Idkidu village had said that when he was in his house titled 'Matrushtre', he received a call in his mobile phone. The call was made in the name of Ravi Poojary, and demand for Rs 25 lac was made, failing which threat to his life was posed, Bhat had stated.

Vittal police who investigated the case, had filed charge sheet in the court.

The case was still under investigation. The complainant decided not to pursue the case further. Therefore, the Junior Magistrate first Class court Bantwal dismissed the case.
