Mangaluru, Nov 19: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Dr Rajendra K V, has permitted inter-state government buses to ply between Kerala and Karnataka.
Through an order, he has allowed the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation buses to ply from Mangaluru and Puttur depots to destinations in Kerala, duly following the Covid guidelines without exception.
The relaxation was permitted after reviewing the covid19 situation, and in the interests of thousands of people who come to Karnataka from Kasargod district for various purposes like education, employment, business and others and they have been demanding for the resumption of bus services between these two states. He has however, asked the passengers to strictly adhere to Covid guidelines.

Only the government buses have been allowed to move between Karnataka and Kerala. The passengers have to mandatorily comply with conditions like wearing of facemasks, use of sanitisers, maintaining social distance etc. The respective conductors have to make sure that the RTPCR reports that are not older than 72 hours are in the possession of the passengers travelling by buses. They should have got vaccinated with both the doses and the daily commuters have to produce RTCR negative reports once in seven days.
The deputy commissioner, who also happens to be the chairman of Dakshina Kannada District Disaster Management Authority, has warned that those violating these rules will subject themselves to action under Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act 2020 and Disaster Management Act 2005.
