Udupi: MLC polls are like ‘mini war’ in Karnataka - Shobha Karandlaje

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (HB)

Udupi, Nov 19: “The MLC polls are like a mini war in Karnataka. Kota is the most eligible candidate from all points of view. Karnataka MLC poll is like a mini war in southern India. I have a strong feeling that Kota will win by majority of votes in Karnataka,” said union minister Shobha Karandlaje at ‘Jan Swaraj Yatra’ held here on Friday November 19.

She was addressing the gathering at town hall Ajjarkad here. She further said, “We need to get majority votes in the upcoming Legislative Council to pass any bills. If bills are getting passed in Lok Sabha, it should get approved in Rajya Sabha also. There are a total of 2,368 voters in Udupi. Out of that, 1,368 voters are BJP-supported representatives. But now we want to raise that number to 1,500.

“UP election revolves around Ram Mandir. The entire world is looking at UP. The Yogi-led government should return to power. Modi is a national leader. The whole world is waiting for his words as he has mesmerized people with his personality,” he said.

S Angara, minister for Fisheries, Port and Inland Water Transport said, “There are no hurdles to win MLC poll in undivided Dakshina Kannada, but ultimately the main intention is getting majority votes. The additional votes show our strength in unity. I have to maintain the trust that people have kept in me and I should work that way. The party, candidate and winning the poll by majority votes is important for us.”

Kota Srinivas Poojary, minister for Social Welfare, said, “I got to win the Karnataka Legislative Council with a difference of 350 votes. I fought for the betterment of panchayat members.” He urged the local body members to select or cast vote carefully. “Any mistake in selecting the first candidate and the vote will be considered as invalid,” he said.

Sunil Kumar, minister for Kannada and Culture department said, “There are 1,533 BJP supported members in local bodies. As many as 1,400 are participating in the programme here. Local body representatives should be careful about phone conversations. The first priority of the BJP government is integrated development. Let us work towards that with a single aim.”

D V Sadananda Gowda, former chief minister, said, “Today, there is no corruption in administration. Rs 1,008 crore has been sanctioned for the state for water supply. All panchayats will get internet connectivity by 2023. The government will provide houses by 2025 for housing scheme beneficiaries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi dreamt about independent India through ‘Atma Nirbar Bharat’ and enforced NEP for providing skill and employment oriented education. I hope that BJP will get A+++ result in MLC polls.”

S T Somashekhar, Karnataka Cooperative minister said that discussions are on for starting a separate DCC bank in Udupi district.”

Kuilady Suresh Nayak, district BJP president, Udupi delivered the keynote address.

Raghupati Bhat, MLA Udupi, B R Sukumar Shetty, MLA Byndoor, Shankarappa, state BJP vice president, Ashwath Narayan, state general secretary, MLA Umanath Kotian, in-charge, Udaykumar Shetty, Yashpal Suvarna, general secretary, State OBC Morcha, Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, president, Coastal Development Authority, Lalaji R Mendon, MLA Kaup, Sumithra R Nayak, president, CMC Udupi and local body representatives were present.
