Mangaluru, Nov 19: Former chief minister and MP D V Sadananda Gowda expressed confidence about the BJP winning at least 17 seats out of the 25 in the elections to the Karnataka legislative council there by ensuring a majority in the council. He was speaking at the 'Jana Swarajya' rally organised at Adyar Garden on Friday November 19.

He also said that majority in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha is important for passing any bill. Gowda also lamented that they could not pass a cow slaughter bill in the council due to lack of majority. He also expressed his happiness about having enough members elected to gram panchayats which could give the party a majority in the council.

Shobha Karandlaje, union minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare said that the Centre has reserved a huge Rs 1 lakh crore fund for the agricultural sector. She also said that the government is committed to double the farmers' income and hence due to their efforts, India stands at 9th place in export of agricultural products.
