Kundapur, Nov 29: Under the aegis of 'Clean Kundapur Project', Coastal Security police station Gangolli, gram panchayat Koteshwar, Lions Club Kundapur, Amrut Dhara and Rashtra Sevika Samithi Udupi district, the 'Clean Beach Project' was undertaken on Sunday November 28 morning close to the Cookery Resort near the old estuary beach, Koteshwar.

Udupi zilla panchayat (ZP) chief executive officer (CEO) Dr Naveen Bhat, speaking after participating in the 111th week's Clean Beach programme, appreciated Koteshwar gram panchayat and 'Clean Kundapur Project' and other organizations for voluntarily undertaking cleaning of beach with the motto that our waste is our responsibility. He called upon people to handle waste generated themselves and not to allow the waste to reach rivers or the sea. He asked people to cultivate the habit of handing over the waste to the concerned solid and liquid resources management units. "There is a proposal to undertake cleanliness campaign by the gram panchayat every week. December 2 happens to be the National Pollution Control Day. As part of the programmes associated with this, a cleanliness week is being observed, which has been initiated here," he explained.

Koteshwar gram panchayat members Lokesh Ankadakatte, Nagaraja M Kanchan, Janaki Billava, Lolakshi, Revathi, Raju Poojary, gram panchayat development officer, Tejappa Kulal, Annapoorna Kodlaya and Shashikalaof SLRM unit and volunteers as well as office bearers of different organizations were present.

    Well done. People do appreciate such act. Sometimes it may be just......!!! My simple request and a suggestion is, keep some dust bins to dispose the waste near the tea stalls at the beach side and make some arrangements to collect/clear the same regularly. This may reduce throwing waste at the beach!! Mainly children should be taught these basic habits in the school!!

    One day job will not serve the purpose. If these people so Concerned about Cleaning they should to this type of jobs every alternative day so that the BEACH will have some get up.

    Ok, I appreciate his work what he has done for today. But one day work only for news. I request with him that without fail he should do cleaning beach daily atleast 1 hour. Then only we can give him good marks. everywhere show business.
