Udupi: Stones pelted at cars after altercation between tempo driver, motorists

Udupi, Nov 29: Two cars were damaged in Hoode after stones were pelted them, late night on Sunday November 28.

It is said, a tempo transporting sad was being driven in a rash manner. The locals of Hampanakatte, Kemmannu waylaid the tempo and disputation erupted between the tempo driver and them.

Later, when the motorists moved towards Hoode, a group of people, backed by tempo driver, blocked the motorists’path and involved in a scuffle. Stone pelting also occurred in the due course.

Learning about the incident, Malpe sub inspector Shaktivelu reached the spot in his private vehicle. Night duty staff from the station also reached the spot.

Private vehicle of the sub inspector was hit by a stone. But none of the persons were injured.

A suo moto case has been filed by Malpe police.

One person has been arrested in relation to the case.
