Mangaluru: Toll gate staff arrested for abusing, attempting to assault married couple

Mangaluru, Nov 29: One person was arrested for abusing and attempting to assault a married couple at Surathkal toll gate. The incident took place on November 27. 

The arrested is identified as Yogesh (23) from Tadambail.

A woman along with her husband hailing from Padavinangady was travelling from Udupi to Mangaluru in their four-wheeler. When they reached Surathkal toll gate, the couple tried to move on the service road. Noticing that, the toll gate staff waylaid them and argument followed.

The toll gate staff abused the couple and banged at the window pane of the car. Further, he attempted to assault the couple.

The woman filed a complaint at Surathkal police station. A case under section 506, 504, 341 and 354 was filed.

Yogesh was arrested on Sunday November 28 and produced to the court.

    I just cant imagine why this toll collection in every 1000 meters ?Everywhere they collect money.Who benefits from this money?does everycent goes to where it should be or some rupees remain back in Tollgate sticked?Onething I noticed is they are very very rude.Here such people will be thrown out immediately.

    The MLA from this area is only interested in renaming surathkal circle as veer savarkar circle...he is least bothered about this toll booth haftha....I think he'd have done a better job in his dentistry profession......lol.

    Its really sad to say that though our MP and MLA being the localites are not responding on this issue. They are just blind about this toll gate which is collecting Rs. 80/- for travelling to and fro. They are least bothered. Though paying Rs. 80/- the way the roads are maintained is very pathetic..

    Most rude. rowdy type and uncultured staff is found in every toll gate specially in D.K and Udupi districts. And Suratkal toll gate? Very very rude people are handling it. Local MLA is not bothered. VHP, HJV, BD and other organisations keep quiet. Those toll gates are controlled by some Mafia. People should lodge complaints against such goondagiri.

    I travel frequently from Mangalore to Bantwal. This happens even at Brahmarakutlu (BC road). Despite having fastag they come in front and stop the car. They behave as if they own this highway.

    Earlier Surathkal toll gate was taken over by Yashpal Suvarna from Udupi BJP on lease, and just imagine amount of money that can be made at Rs 45/- for one way for every car passing through Surathkal toll gate except KA 19 cars..Being from Udupi, that Udupi BJP man could have exempted, Udupi registered KA 20 cars from paying Rs 45/- one way everytime, but he did nothing...when muslims take panga with this, majority will make it hindu-muslim fight....which the politicians want, and the majority community is brainwashed esp in a flash point town like Surathkal

    From Kudla.. This happens when these people work first time in their life they get excited, they get their own laws, rules, regulations and many more sir. I pity the workforce from Kudla. Dignity of labour is zero. Being Mangalorean i should not condemn my own people. But it is the fact.

    THEY ARE CHARGING TOLL THERE IS NO FACILITY OF WASH ROOM, REST ROOM NOTHING, BECAUSE PUBLIC ARE NOT RAISING THEIR VOICE. ONLY DIEING FOR CASTE CREED AND RELIGION ETC, THAT IS WHY WE ARE GRANTED FOR EVERY CHARGE.

    when you give toll to them, if you give 100 / 200 rupee note, stretch the note and show it to them prominently... otherwise after putting the money in drawer, they will argue that u gave lesser note... it happened to me once... i had to go to their office( booth) and see in camera to prove that I had given higher denomination note... most people may not take that trouble... so they try to cheat...
