Mangaluru, Dec 4: Today, one can notice several people coming forward to adopt animals and give them a new lease of life. Animal lovers have set an example and been inspiration to many, the way they take care of their four-legged mates.

Every individual has their own way to shower love towards the animal they love. Similarly, an animal lover from Ujire, Shruthi Jain has taken care of a dog ‘Zippy’ and a dedicated a book titled ‘Preethigondu Hesaru Idhu ‘Zippy’graphy’ to it. Shruthi has put the experience with Zippy into words and pen down lively about the life of Zippy. Six years ago, Shruthi adopted Zippy from Mangaluru when it was just 30 days old. Since then, the bonding between Shruthi and Zippy turned stronger which inspired her to write a book on the life of Zippy.

Shruthi hails from Karkala and presently works in SDM College Ujire as a lecturer in the Journalism department. Shruthi is an anchor, model and a dancer as well.

Speaking to daijiworld.com, Shruthi said, "I have put into words about the experience and bonding that I have shared with Zippy in the last six years. I adopted her from Mangaluru when she was just 30 days old. Zippy is not trained by anyone, but self –trained. It follows every command without fail and understands Kannada language quite easily.

"I have written the book in a funny way about our attachment. Pet lovers will definitely like the book and make you feel that you have read about your own dog at home. The book may inspire one to adopt a dog. The naughtiness, possessiveness, anger, cuteness and loads of other qualities of Zippy are mentioned in the book. The book is not an imaginary story but the life story of Zippy,” she says.

Speaking about the book Shruthi says, "The book is first-of-its-kind in the state depicting the life story of a dog. Zippygraphy consists of 80 pages with 15 stories. James Vaz has designed the cover page and Raghavendra Sringeri has done worked on the illustrations. The art work in the book will make you curious to know the story ahead. Actor-director Raj B Shetty has penned down the preface to the book.”

On her experience writing the book, she says, "I started to pen down the book during the lockdown, seven months ago. Writing a book is not an easy task. It is a long process that consumes a lot of time. I never thought that I will write a book on Zippy. Whenever I post pictures of Zippy on the social media, many suggested about putting our bonding into words.

"We both have travelled to many places as I love travelling. The only condition for Zippy is that I have to keep the car window open so that it can feel the breeze. My intention to write the book is that everyone should love a dog. We see animals being harassed every now and then. Zippy is a friend, guide and inspires me to be positive,” she says.

Shruthi is planning to release the book later this month.
