56% say discrimination against Muslims has increased

New Delhi, Dec 6 (IANS): More than 56 per cent felt that discrimination against Muslims had increased in the last several years as per an IANS-CVoter snap poll.

Respondents to a poll reflected the deeply polarised political environment in the country that exists today.

While 43.4 per cent of respondents claimed that discrimination against Muslims had not increased after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, 35 per cent of the respondents felt that discrimination against Muslims has increased a lot.

The poll was conducted across the country using random sampling with a sample size of 1942 on December 5, 2021, the eve of the beginning of the 30th anniversary of the demolition of the Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992. Effectively, more than 56 per cent felt that discrimination against Muslims had increased because 21.6 per cent of the respondents said that discrimination had increased somewhat.

The divide between the supporters of the NDA and the opposition parties is starkly evident in the responses. While just about 20 per cent of the NDA supporters felt discrimination had increased a lot, 45.6 per cent of the opposition voters expressed the same few.

Similarly, while 58 per cent of the NDA supporters claimed there was no increase whatsoever in the Narendra Modi regime, 33 per cent of the opposition voters held the same view.

In recent times, liberals, activists and human rights bodies in India as well as overseas have accused the current government of discriminating against minorities, particularly Muslims. The Citizenship Amendment Act passed by Parliament in December 2019 that offers citizenship to persecuted minorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan is cited by them as an example.

I think discrimination against Muslims has increased massive in the past years after in America two towers were bombed ,lot of people died ,and lot of loss ,everywhere .In other European countries too innocent people were killed with weapons or shooting ,previously in Afghanistan problems etc increased. This is absolutely what I think, not anything to do with India ,PM Modi to do .In Europe too sometimes muslim students were in a university Librery wanted place to do Namaj during others were there an not to disturb .Such things I think make always uneasyness.May be in India it is increased after this Babri Masjid and raising Ram Temple?Even not to sell beef in India ,not killing Cows ?Anyway everywhere we face lot of problems ,not only in India but whole world.Hope this will come down and live like before in peace is really wish of everyone.
