Anti-conversion law: BJP in Karnataka takes on Congress

Bengaluru, Dec 11 (IANS): The ruling BJP in Karnataka has launched a scathing attack on opposition Congress over its stand opposing the proposed anti-conversion law which is to be tabled in the winter session starting Monday in Belagavi.

The BJP has taken to social media platforms and in a series of posts chided the Congress for sacrificing the larger interest of the community for political gains. "If anti-conversion law is enacted, one section of the society will be hurt. More than anything else, it may hurt your supreme leader (Sonia Gandhi). Political gains are important for you over the interests of Hindus," the party post read.

"There is a competition within the Congress over opposing the anti-conversion law. Few days ago, it was opposition leader Siddaramaiah, and now it is the turn of Karnataka Congress President D.K. Shivakumar. You are the one who was ready to install monolithic Jesus statue illegally in Kanakapura to please high command. There is no surprise in your opposition," the BJP's official twitter handle said.

Further attacking Congress, the BJP said, it can't expect more from Congress leaders who celebrated Tipu Jayanti (Tipu Sultan is a warrior king from Mysuru who fought against Britishers. BJP opposes Tipu Sultan by alleging mass conversions of Hindus to Islam religion).

The BJP is all set to introduce anti-conversion law in the state which is likely to create a furore in the winter session beginning from Monday (Dec 13). Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj K.S. Eshwarappa has already announced that BJP is bringing the law to stop forceful religious conversions in the state, come what may.

Society says we should love our parents but the truth is no one will love an alcoholic father or abusive mother. Children only love parents who have provided safe and nurturing environment for physical emotional and mental health. Even if anti-conversion law comes into effect...those whose logic/morality does not agree with there birth faith will eventually leave the faith group. They will show the hindu/christian/muslim name on birth/marraige certificate/aadhaar card but the heart and loyalty will be elsewhere . Authority can control the body but the mind and soul is free. So instead of living as crypto hindus chirstians and muslims why don't we make it easy for overselves and religion custodians by revealing our actual faith- simple. Simply nataka nataka.

Attacks going on in North India at Christian Prayer Centres ... Latest from Haryana.... Last week it was MP where a school was attacked in the name of conversion. They were successful in disrupting friday namaz in gurugram. This menace wont stop. No matter how many laws you bring, if ruling govt is hand in glove with vigilantes then this only will exceed.

Has anyone read the provisions of the new law?. If the law is against the constitution, it will held null by the court. If its legal, then there should not be any objection for anyone.

Caste system is the Hindu culture, which unfortunately has also crept into Catholics, whether or not it is tolerated by the Church. You cannot simply ban caste system like Untouchability. If it was not for Ambadekar even Untouchability would have been tolerated in India like apartheid in South Africa.

It is not about the anti conversion law. It is giving unnecessary tool to harass the minorities by the govt. agencies, police personnel as well as fringe groups to attack the place of worship of the minorities.

Hello Jeevan Being a Christian I support your comment provided you prove where you are right.. 1. Did you ever approached by a Christian to convert to covertly by inducement or force ? 2. Have observed such incidents in your neighborhood ? 3. In your colleges or school days have you observed such behavior from Christian community ? 4. In your society where ever you live, have come across such incidents ? Therefore this is the game of the politics, cheap poli-tricks to unite Hindus ? Do you require such tricks to unite among your Hindus ? Answer is No. Therefore, if you can't love your fellow citizen whether they are Muslims or Christians or Jains etc., and if you hate them...what is the proof that your love your own Hindus ? Impossible my friend...

read Madras high court order. If a person is converted his name & caste will not change. dalit is a caste. where as once a person is converted/ embraced christian faith, he is called a christian. your neighbour was died & buried. not cremated.

India is a Republic Country , Off course, there are other countries where we do not have that much of freedom... that's another topic altogether , its becos they are not Republic and free like our INDIA. JAI INDIA My Motherland ... I was born, brought up, taught to be humble, to mingle with all, in my own city of Mangalore and also found that ,ALL others had this same thought too ..... why the change now? Be humble.... rest will come by itself.....
