Dubai, Nov 27: The cool pleasant weather was an invitation to all Belman Parishoners in Dubai to come together to have some fun under the open skies at Al Safa Park, Zabeel here.
The committee members began the day by making arrangements to welcome the Belman parishoners and their friends. Nourishing breakfast of vada and Mangalore buns and piping hot tea was provided to all the early arrivals. The children trickled in after catechism classes at 11.30 am and games began.
President Walter Monteiro thanked all the committee members and families and friends for their support by attending the picnic, inspite of a busy schedule and coming together as one Belman Family. A moment of silence was observed to remember member Ashok D'Souza who passed away this year.
Thereafter Anil Prakash, an upcoming MC and Anil Cardoza, vice-president took up the task of conducting warm up games and the various fun-filled activities for the day
The crowd were divided into two goups "RED LABEL" and "BLUE LABEL". Thereafter there was a tough competition among the two groups from start to finish. There were various activities like passing the water cups, feeding grapes to your partner with toothpicks, peeling and feeding oranges.
The two teams also made two baloon pyramids, but the wind blew them away.
After a group of active game session, lunch was served to all. There was tradtional kuvalo curry, served with rice. The food was delicious and brought back memories of home.
After lunch, there was a game of volley ball, and the final tough challenge was the exhilarating tug-of-war. The two teams gave an equal fight, but the Red Label was victorious in the end. Both the teams were handed over their prizes, which they shared among all the picnickers.
There is no event complete without the traditonal bingo, after which cash prizes were handed over to the winners.
Walter Monteiro gave the closing speech . Overall it was an enjoyable day out with families and friends, and we look forward to see them all next year as well.
