Udupi: Let govt drop Act that snatches religious freedom – Prashanth Jathanna

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS/HB)

Udupi, Dec 27: “According to constitution, all religions have religious freedom. Anyone can follow any religion according to his or her wish or will and also propagate the same. This is the real religious freedom,” said Prashanth Jathanna, state president of Indian Christian Federation.

Jathanna was speaking at the press conference that was organized at the Press Club in the city on Monday. He further said, “The government of Karnataka has given a new heading saying that the act is protection of religious freedom thereby snatching the religious freedom of minorities.

“A situation is created in the state wherein Christians need to get permission from high court to celebrate Christmas at their homes. Miscreants enter the convents, schools and colleges run by Christians and vandalize the property and threaten the nuns and teachers of the school with dire consequences. In addition, they pressurize to keep the idols of Gods and Goddesses of their religion and force the administration of education institutions to venerate them. No action is being taken by the police. This clearly shows that the anti-conversion bill is brought to give permission to certain organizations to create ruckus.

“This act prima facie projects that religious conversion is a criminal act. It makes a person hesitate to convey his faith to others and also targets aid and free education to poor people as enticement to conversion.

“Anyone can register complaint about religious conversion. In this manner, the act can be used for ulterior purposes. This is against the constitution. Government should stop MLAs and ministers of ruling party from giving statements targeting the minorities.

“Recently, when BJP MP Tejasvi Surya came to the city he gave statement that Christians and Muslims should be converted back to Hinduism. This kind of hate speeches should be stopped. As we have said earlier, we vehemently oppose forceful religious conversion. Even Bible, our holy book does not approve this.

“The unconditional withdrawal of the statement given by Tejasvi is welcome. However, he should not have said such words which hurt the feelings of minorities. People, who are educated should think before giving such statements. Not a single MLA is speaking about this law. Is there no value to the contribution of Christian community to the society?

“When observing all these developments, it shows that the anti-conversion bill has given a license for miscreants to attack Christian institutions and religious places. At least now the government should wake up and drop this act,” he said.

Dr Neri Cornelio, district president of International Federation of Christian Associations, advocate Noel Karkada, legal advisor, Indian Christian Federation and Gladson Karkada, state convener, Indian Christian Federation were present.

This is the brain child of Siddu and Chediless Congress when they were in power. So no point in barking at the agenda created by Grand Old Chediless. What good this party has done for development of India? Kashmir is the classic case of carelessness. Why the so called Jathanna didn't raise the question when congress was in power? Why Now? Jai Hind.

‘Legitimate Government’ formed following which constitutional laws?????…….It’s not a elected govt by people. It’s a self formed govt by overthrowing the previous govt by force and money against people’s mandate. This artificial illegitimate govt has no constitutional right to pass any bill or act which doesn’t have people’s support and consensus as a govt.

Actually this bill, indirectly, approves a conversion. The people who are willing to convert should understand that there is a good opportunity in all religions to live in a peaceful way.

He should read the act. A legitimate govt has enacted it. If you think its against the constitution, approach the court. Giving only statements like this is of no value whatsoever. Nobody is going to withdraw the act, because you gave a statement.

Mr. Hegde, the law was passed despite the opposition is against it. Just because the ruling government is majority, it doesn't mean that it enacts/passes any and every Bill, without even analyzing if it is required or is appropriate. We have seen what the central govt did with De-Mo, NR/CAA, Abrogation of Art-370 and especially the three Farm Bills. Enacting through Ordinance is not a democracy, its an autocracy. If autocracy has to take place, why are citizens asked to vote ? Pick your representative by noose from a drone and fly them to Parliament/Vidhan Soudha no ??

Anti conversion bill is illegal and anti constitutional. As far as forced conversion is concerned the law is already in place. Anyone who has experienced forced conversion can file police complaint and FIR with valid proof and documents.

Here is the deceiving, do you guys question such cheat candidates ?? What will be lost if someone moves from some religion to another ?? What ? Well, BJP has the answer ! VOTES !! So people, misusing our vote and party-hopping is fine with you guys ??? Do you have the right to throw that candidate out ?? NONE, just no right at all ! Think about it people, think about it !

Mr Jathanna whatever you said is 100% correct and legal but the game should be played with all teams following the same rules of the constitution then there is a healthy competition and contest. Unfortunately BJP is the only party doesn’t play according to these rules hence there is unbalance and chaos. This needs all opposition parties to join as a formidable force against this one cheating BJP team to come to terms with the rules of the game. This one time solution is need of the hour which needs lot of sacrifices from team opposition.

Whole world.will.convert. to the love of christ. No one I repeat no one can match his love to every creature created by him for all without bias. We are all the followers of christ including you. Every knee shall bend and every tongue shall confess Jesus is the lord. It is a matter of time. Till then keep hate christ and tell everyone you hate christ. The more you and your gang hate Christian's the more you come closer to see the suffering of Christians but ultimately we are the winners in christ name with humility and sufferings. Life is short but live with love and kindness.

Paying money or providing economic benefits for converting is a rumour that will never be proved. It is my duty to preach about my faith but it's up to you to accept or reject. Above all why should I pay you for converting to my religion. What material benefit will I get by convincing you to convert? No organisation will provide me any commission or material reward.
