Mangalore, Dec 4: In two separate accidents which occurred in the outskirts of the city on Friday December 3, a person lost his life, while another was injured. A car and motor bike each were involved in both these accidents.

After a car hit a motor bike in front of Sahyadri group of educational institutions in Adyar near here, a two-wheeler rider, Francis D’Souza (45), a resident of Valachchil, lost his life on the spot. He was reaching the highway after getting petrol for his motor bike in Adyar, when the car that was speeding on the highway, hit his vehicle at around 4 pm. Francis, who sustained critical injuries, died immediately.

His body continued to lie on the highway for about an hour, as neither the policemen nor any ambulance, arrived there even after the information was passed on, the locals said. It is reported that the ‘Arogya Kavacha’ ambulance, which reached the spot, refused to carry the body, as it is meant only for taking the sick and injured people. The body was later shifted in the ambulance of Wenlock Hospital here, after about an hour.

In the other accident that occurred at Padil Junction, a bike rider suffered grievous injuries, after a Maruti car hit his two-wheeler. He was admitted into a private hospital. His name and other details are yet to be ascertained.
