Mangaluru, Jan 3: NIA officials have raided the house of B M Basha, son of former MLA of Ullal B M Idinabba once again. Krisha Kumar, DSP assistant investigating officer, NIA Delhi along with Ajay Singh PI and Monika Dhikwal arrested Basha’s daughter-in-law Deepthi Marla alias Mariyam on Monday January 3.
Officials of NIA had raided the house of Basha in the first week of August 2021. After holding inquiry for two days, they arrested Amar Abdul Rehman, younger son of Basha. During that raid, the officials had suspicion on Deepthi alias Mariyam, who has married Anas Abdul Rahiman, another son of Basha.
Though the NIA interrogated Mariam for two days during the raid in August 2021, they did not arrest her. But they were monitoring her movements, it is learnt. Now the sleuths of NIA have raided the house again. It is said that there is a chance of arresting her this time around.
Deepthi, who is of Kodagu origin, fell in love with Anas while studying BDS course in Deralakatte. Later she got converted to Islam and became a highly conservative and changed her name to Mariyam. It is said that she had connections with terrorist outfit ISIS and had links with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. NIA officials investigated Mariyam on the suspicion that she is involved in the racquet of recruiting youths to ISIS network.
