Belagavi, Jan 3: In an incident that occurred at Mudalagi of the district, a family was attacked by right wing Hindutva groups accusing them of converting their neighbours to Christianity.
It is learnt that this assault took place recently at the residence of priest Akshayakumara Karangavi while prayer was being held.
The Hindutva group members, who barged inside the house of the priest, asked him to stop the prayer. In addition, they threw the hot sambar utensil on the women present inside the house. The women wailed in pain due to the hot sambar that was thrown on them. This is mentioned in the FIR.
The police have registered FIR against seven accused. The arrested accused are identified as Shivananda Shivalingappa, Ramesha Dandapura, Parasappa Babu, Fakirappa Bagewadi, Krishna Kanthikar, Chathan Rajendra and Mahantesha Basalingappa.
