Bengaluru, Jan 4: Government is mulling to close schools within a week or two if the Covid and Omicron cases do not subside. However, the possibility of closing of schools all of a sudden might not be there, according to some sources. Only in those taluks where the cases are more, the schools will be closed.
If the government, however, takes decision to lockdown the whole state, then invariably the schools will also be closed. As the schools and colleges were closed for a long time during the first and second wave, the learning process of scores of students got affected. Hence, primary and secondary education minister B C Nagesh himself has requested the technical committee for Covid not to close the schools throughout the state but only in taluks where the infection is more.
It is learnt that the expert committee has already given his opinion to the government with regards to closure of schools. In addition, it has suggested the government to vaccinate maximum number of students in the age group of 15 to 18 years.
