Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal (MS)

Bantwal, Jan 9: The work on the bridge at Panemangaluru, across Netravati river as part of B C Road-Addahole NH 75 development work has resumed. After the highway work is completed in two years, the new bridge of 386 meter length will also be thrown open to public.

The NH work which was stalled many years ago, resumed only a few months ago. Two different companies have been given the contract. The work on 15-km highway stretch from Addahole to Periyashanti has been entrusted to S M Authade Private Limited Company of Pune, Maharashtra for an estimated cost of Rs 317 crore. Similarly the work on 49-km highway stretch of Periyashanti to B C Road, will e delivered by KNR Construction Limited at an estimated cost of Rs 1600 crore.

Both the sides of the bridge will have abatements and 11 pillars will be constructed at an average distance of 38 meters from each other. The work of putting beds for pillars has begun from the Panemangaluru end. As water fills in the river due to the backwaters of Tumbe dam, mud is being poured in order to carry out the work.

Along with the new bridge on Netravati river, one more bridge will be constructed on Kumaradhara river at Uppinangady. The present bridge constructed at Panemangaluru is the third bridge. The earlier bridge was made of steel. In addition to these, one more bridge for railway track is also constructed.

KNR Construction Company has been given a deadline of November 22, 2023 to complete the work on 49-km stretch of NH including that comprises six lane flyover at Kalladka, service roads, underpass and overpass roads, and two huge bridges.

The new bridge at Panemangaluru will be wider than the earlier one. The earlier bridge is 10.4 meter wide, while the new one will be 13.5 meters and is being built at a height of 16 meter from the river.

Why given to two contractors to build the same bridge? They will blame each other for delay and it will not be completed. They will get away with crores.

What kind of calculation you have done, what about flyover & bridge cost, if you tell any builder they will laugh at you and the tender is worth 1100 CR not 1600 CR.
