Karkala, Jan 21: It is reported that a woman from Hosmaru in Hirgana village here ended her life by setting herself ablaze. She was ill and was afraid that she had contracted coronavirus infection. The incident happened at about 3 am on Thursday January 20.
Laxmi (65) from Hosmaru ended her life in this fashion. She was ill for the last few days. She had not tested positive for coronavirus infection. However, she imagined getting infected and suffering from the pandemic and therefore, left behind a letter about her fear of coronavirus. She then went to the rear of her house, poured diesel on herself and started a fire, it is gathered.
A case in this connection was registered in the town police station here. The police are looking into the matter.
