Mangaluru: Sandalwood tree theft from university campus – Three arrested

Mangaluru, Feb 7: Konaje police in the city arrested accused related to the theft of sandalwood tree from the university campus on February 4.

A case in this regard is registered with Konaje police station. The arrested accused are identified as Majid alias Nawaz, resident of K C Nagar, Sharif alias Duniya Sharif, resident of Bantwal and Laxman Shetty, resident of Varkady.

The police confiscated 14 pieces of sandalwood tree weighing 41.1 kg the value of which is estimated to be Rs 25,000. In addition, police probe revealed information with regard to the earlier theft cases of sandalwood from university campus in 2020 and 2021 and arrested Majid alias Nawaz and Hasainar.

Police inspector of Konaje police station Prakash Devadiga, ASI Mallikarjun Biradara, Sharanappa Bhandary and personnel Umesh, Mohan, Sanjeeva, Ashwin, Mahesh, Manjappa, Reshma, Ashok, Shivakumar, Manjunatha C and Devraj were involved in the operation.
