Feb 7: Dakshina Kannada reports 90 Covid cases, Udupi adds 85; eight deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 7: Dakshina Kannada on Monday, February 7, reported 90 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 85 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,34,412 out of which 1,760 are currently active.

As many as 295 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,798. Out of which four deaths were reported on Monday.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,15,01,180 as fine in 94,174 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 85 new cases were reported on Monday. The total active Covid cases have risen to 1,764. A total of 280 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.

Udupi taluk reported 46 cases, Kundapura 26 and 10 cases in Karkala. 3 cases were reported from outside district.

A total of 10,35,721 people have received first dose of vaccination and 8,95,251 have received both doses and 36,252 people have received booster dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
