Feb 8: Dakshina Kannada reports 146 Covid cases, Udupi adds 64; nine deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 8: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, February 8, reported 146 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 64 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,34,558 out of which 1,507 are currently active.

As many as 392 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,805. Out of which seven deaths were reported on Tuesday.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,15,04,780 as fine in 95,210 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 64 new cases were reported on Tuesday. The total active Covid cases have risen to 1,799. A total of 27 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.

Udupi taluk reported 40 cases, Kundapura 14 and 7 cases in Karkala. 3 cases were reported from outside district.

A total of 10,36,362 people have received first dose of vaccination and 8,96,651 have received both doses and 36,892 people have received booster dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
