Mangaluru: Sec 144 in city clamped around high schools from Feb 14

Mangaluru Feb 13: Police Commissioner N Shashikumar has clamped prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC around 200 meter radius of all high schools under police commissionerate limits from 6 AM of 14 February to 6 PM of  February 19.
The move comes as a precautionary measure following the ongoing hijab - saffron shawl controversy.

The decision has been taken inorder to maintain law and order as high schools will function from February 14 and the colleges are likely open from February 16.

As the Mangaluru Commissionerate is a very sensitive region currently, inorder to maintain law and order the prohibitory orders have been imposed. It is also with the intention of preventing crowd formation in the wake of Covid, commissioner Shashikumar has disclosed in a communique.

Gathering of more than five people, carrying weapons, taking processions, celebrations or raising slogans against government institutions, officers or carrying out any activities which will disturb the peace in the society or law and order is strictly banned, he added.
