'Our patience is not weakness', warns Pralhad Joshi on hijab row

Hubballi, Feb 16 (IANS): Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Mining Pralhad Joshi, commenting on the hijab row in Karnataka, said on Tuesday that the state government has exercised much restraint on this (hijab row) issue and this should not be mistaken as weakness.

"Court decision should be followed at any cost. You don't follow the interim order of the court. What is this arrogance? The government headed by Basavaraj Bommai is handling the issue with restraint. The government is considering it as a sensitive matter and exercising restraint. It should not be mistaken as weakness," Union Minister Joshi said.

"Are you trying to be extra constitutional? Which time we are living in? You want to cover the face of girls? This has to be considered seriously. Progressive Muslims should think. This is unnecessary, you are being made a scapegoat," he stated.

He further said, "I appeal to the parents of Muslim children that you have all the freedom, no one is opposing your religious practices. But, still communal feelings are provoked. BJP will not approve such appeasement."

"If anyone creates trouble in schools regarding hijab, police will take strict action and put them behind bars. Initiate legal action, we can't be helpless," he said.

"Muslim women for generations have been kept in darkness. We (BJP) have broken their shackles. I want to ask the Congress leaders to make their stand clear on the hijab issue. If you want to give out a call for Muslim students to wear hijab, go ahead and do it. Otherwise, all parties should tell students to attend classes as per the interim court order. Karnataka is known for communal harmony, good culture. This is not required," he added.

Though majority of students are attending classes, good number of Muslim students have refused to shun hijab and are not taking preparatory exams for class 10.

Ban all religious items including Janivara, kumkum, bindi, bangles, nama or gandha on forehead, etc. along with hijab. Ban all sorts of Poojas too, in schools and colleges where students from all the communities study. How can you hold Poojas in government offices too because government has no religion. All these issues will come up in the days to come because hate has no end. As you sow, so shall you reap. In the whole dramebajji, the future of our youngsters is gone.

Best option is to ask all girl students to wear hijab matching the school uniform. Hijab is not a religious dress. If people tell me hijab is religious dress then I am asking them why marwadi woman cover their face in front of men???

Dear Mr pralhad joshi by wearing the hijab is it makes any difference for you. its absolutely not. hijab means covering the head followed by the breast, first of all covering the breast is the beauty of the women , irrespective of any religion. this is a religion issue and what is your problem in wearing the hijaab. first of all you are all leaders of our great india and you have to support the girls who are willing to wear the hijaab. and not to loose the classes too much and no one should be the reason for creating the tension in the community and i do request every one to keep calm and wait for the court verdict and try to help each other and live peacefully.

Why don't you order other students to attend schools and colleges without bindi, nama, and janiwara if you are claiming to have uniform dress and attire code. Please do it and see the result of your action in election.

Janivara is worn on the body and not on the dress. How does it interfere with school uniform ? Regarding Bindi or Nama,it doesn't eclipse the school uniform dress . This government should take all steps to bar these children with hijab and burqa in undertaking any exams .

Nobody is opposing court order and nobody is forcing themselves inside college. They are not attending classes and not appearing for exams and sitting at home if hijab is not allowed and waiting for court’s final verdict. So what non sense are you talking since there is no violation of court order and girls are within thier rights and no provocation whatsoever but statement has a stink of provocation.

One fine day Sangh ideology will be thrown into garbage by country men. May be we wont b alive to witness it. History is the witness to all such crap ideologies. None came to this world to rule permanently. There were emperor and their armies which were thousand time powerful than the current fascists Sangh, they used their power but only for a short period, they were over powered by others and this circle continued and will continue in its own form. After every peak there is a fall for evil.

The state Government has no role to play in this matter. The earlier this party understands, the better is for their mental health. It is a constitutional matter.
