Mangaluru, Feb 17: Mangaluru South block Congress on Thursday February 17 held a rally from Hampankatta signal to Clock Tower protesting against rural development minister K S Eshwarappa for his remark on hoisting the saffron flag at Red Fort.

The Congress also demanded Eshwappa's resignation.

Congress leaders carried a dead body effigy of Eshwarappa from Hampankatta signal to Clock Tower and tried to set it on fire, even as police intervened and doused the flames.

Addressing the protest, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde said, "Since the BJP took power, there has been repeated administrative faliure. The statement made by Eshwarappa has to be condemned."

Former MLA J R Lobo said, "Eshwarappa has no control over his tongue. He is a senior leader, no one needs to tell him about the Constitution or the government. He should be responsible while giving statements to the media.

"He is unfit to be a minister. He should be sacked from the cabinet and action should be taken against him. He is anti-national. Why has he still not been arrested?" Lobo added.

It may be recalled that K S Eshwarappa passed controversial remarks on hoisting the saffron flag at Red Fort instead of the Tricolour. Both the chief minister and the home minister have said that there was no question of booking him for treason.

Congress leaders A C Vinayaraj, T K Sudhir, district women Congress president Shalet Pinto, Sabitha Misquith and others were present.

Congress doesn't protests whenever Owaisi gives hate speech against Hindus! This itself shows what is the secularism of congress.

Why just me, all Indians, irrespective of which party they support, should come out and condemn this heinous and abominable statement of Eshwarappa. It is an insult to the national flag and no patriotic India can tolerate this. If the BJP has any shame left, it should immediately sack him. No protest is required. The BJP high command should have issued strict orders to have him sacked. Of course, he is unfit to be a minister. He should be kicked out without further delay. No Indian with an iota of self respect will support this statement of Eshwarappa. My view is if anybody supports his statement, without doubt, he is an anti national.

Irrespective of party politics I strongly feel Congress is right in this matter. Even his own party people know that Eshwarappa is absolutely at fault.

Duplicity of these people is embarrassing, wherein they were fine when under guise of kisaan rally, elements of Khalistani terrorists were embedded and they actually ended up hosting Khalistani flag on red fort. Khalistan terrorists doing that is fine and not even single Congressi was seen protesting. Does it mean they condoned it? But a flag that represents and is everything Indian about it cannot be hoisted? Moral bankruptcy is anyway the basic qualification to join politics and they give enough fodder for our enthusiastic media.

The Sikh who hoisted the flag was arrested and sedition charges were put and finally he was killed in a road accident. That is a big mystery. So why sedition charges are not put on this minister or sacked immediately.

Your own police were on duty under Daku’s command during Delhi farmer’s protest. Were Delhi police doing thier duty or only recording video from far or directing the goons to go to Red Fort to plant their flag. Hope you are not blind to see and understand.
