Justice Nazeer inaugurates new court buildings in Kundapur, Byndoor

Kundapur, Feb 19: "Cases come up sometimes like sicknesses in the family. Just as patients go to doctor, people seeking justice come to court. The responsibility of imparting justice to people looking for a solution when faced with problems should be shouldered with joy without demanding a high fee from them," opined Supreme Court judge Justice S Abdul Nazeer.

He was speaking after inaugurating the newly-constructed building of the court complex and Bar Association here on Saturday, February 19.


"A beautiful court building has come up in a small place. The needs of all including women advocates have been taken into consideration here. The current court building should also be repaired. It is the responsibility of the Supreme Court and the government to provide basic necessities as well as judges. Lawyers and petitioners have an important role to play in making good use of the facilities.

"IT/BT or corporate cases in Kundapur vicinity usually do not get registered in Kundapur. Most of the cases pertaining to agriculture, land, motor vehicle cases and unfortunate criminal cases are registered.

He also said that compensation in accident cases should not be based on percentages.

Chief Justice of Karnataka high court Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi said that Kundapur is identified as an important religious and cultural centre of undivided Dakshina Kannada district. “The Kundakannada language and Panchagangavali Sangama here have made the place more unique. The court building costing approximately Rs 6 crore has been constructed to fulfill the needs of five courts. As the process of providing justice will be conducted in a good atmosphere, everybody will benefit,” he said.

Karnataka high court and administrative judge Justice Rangaswamy Nataraj compared the judicial needs of Kundapur region with that of a child, and said that as the child grows, its needs increase. "Complainants and lawyers in the previous building were under pressure due to lack of facilities and space. The newly introduced E-Seva centre should be used well. Everybody should cooperate in the upcoming National Lok Adalat. Facilities needed for the court should be sought, obtained and used," he said.

The E-Seva centre, helpline centre and video conference room were also inaugurated. PWD chief engineer Kantaraju B T was congratulated on behalf of the Bar Association.

Karnataka high court officer T G Shivashankere Gowda, Karnataka government legal department chief secretary T Venkatesh Naik, Sameera Nazeer, Archana Nataraj, PWD department chief engineer Kantaraju B T and Kundapur Bar Association chief secretary H Pramod Hande were present.

Udupi district and sessions judge Subrahmanya J N welcomed. Kundapur Bar Association president Salvadi Niranjan Hegde rendered the vote of thanks. Vice-president Raghavendra Charan Navada compered the programme while Malini Ramesh recited a prayer.


Byndoor: Newly-established intinerary civil judge and JMFC court inaugurated

Justice Abdul Nazeer also inaugurated the newly established itinerary civil judge and JMFC court building constructed by the district judiciary, PWD and Bar Association of Byndoor at old Mayyadi gram panchayat building here on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering, Justice Nazeer said, "This day is historic for the people of Byndoor. There are 2,800 cases in Byndoor but only 1,000 cases can be disposed of in the present court. Therefore, a permanent court is necessary for them. The new court will be helpful for people."

Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi presided over the programme.

Shivamogga MP B Y Raghavendra said, "We have seen several technological changes in the 21st century. It is a matter of pride that virtual trials are held by the courts during Covid. Internet facilities and social media are both good and bad for the people. Supreme Court judge Justice Abdul Nazeer has pronounced important verdicts such as on Ayodhya dispute and triple Talaq. His vist to our district brings us pride."

Karnataka high court and administration judge Rangaswamy Nataraj, Karnataka high court officer T G Shivashankere Gowda, department of law chief secretary T Venkatesh Naik, Karnataka high court senior advocate Uday Holla, PWD Shivamogga chief engineer Kantaraju B T and Byndoor Bar Association secretary N Sudheendra R Bhat were present.

Udupi principal district and sessions judge Subrahmanya J S welcomed. Byndoor Bar Association president Devidas R Mesta gave an introductory address.
