Shivamogga: Two taken into custody for Bajrang Dal worker's murder

Shivamogga, Feb 21: Two persons have been taken into custody in connection to the murder of Bajrang Dal worker Harsha.

Harsha was hacked to death late night by a gang of four who came in a car and escaped soon after committing the crime. The murder has sparked tension in the district and incidents of violence have been reported, leading authorities to shut down schools and colleges and imposing prohibitory orders.

ADGP Murugan informed on Monday, February 21 that two accused have been arrested by the police and investigation is continuing. Their names have not been disclosed yet.

Speaking to reporters, Murugan said, "Section 144 has been imposed in Shivamogga. At some parts of the city, some untoward incidents have taken place. Stringent action will be taken against the offenders."

Murugan also said that complete details will be given to media after the arrest of rest of the accused and completion of investigation.

The ADGP also appealed to public to remain peaceful, not give importance to rumours and help the police department to maintain law and order.

Tense situation still prevails in the city. Some untoward incidents are reported. Heavy police presence is seen all over the city. Additional forces are deployed in sensitive areas.
