Bengaluru, Feb 21: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the police will soon arrest miscreants who murdered a Hindu worker in Shivamogga on Sunday, February 20.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Monday, February 21, Bommai said a probe into the case had commenced soon after the incident on Sunday evening and police had clues regarding who the perpetrators were.

The Chief Minister said, “Miscreants will be nabbed as soon as early possible. I have directed the police authorities to prevent untoward incidents in Shivamogga.”

The deceased was a Hindu worker who was known as "Hindu Harsha as he belonged to the Sanghatan."

He was hacked to death on Sunday evening, which led to a tense atmosphere in Shivamogga district.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people of the district to maintain peace.

“We will take all necessary steps to ensure action against those who killed the person,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sri Ram Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik called on the Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum demanding immediate steps to investigate and nab the culprits responsible for the murder of Hindu worker Harsha in Shivamogga.

Public Works Minister C C Patil and Sri Ram Sene workers accompanied Pramod Muthalik.

On Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister K S Eshwarappa's allegations that “Muslim goondas” were responsible for the murder, Bommai said he does not want to react to the minister's statement. “I don’t want to make any comments when the investigation is underway,” he said.

"All I can say is that investigation will bring out the truth," the Chief Minister said.
