Mumbai: Federal Express Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing


Mumbai, Jan 7 (IANS) A Federal Express aircraft made an emergency landing at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport here Friday afternoon after a fire alarm went off in its cargo hold, officials said.

The flight, FX-5034, with two crew members on board, was proceeding to Paris via Dubai.

It had taken off from here at 12.13 p.m. and it reported the fire alarm emergency at 12.55 p.m.

It turned back and was cleared for emergency landing within 15 minutes after which it was guided to the isolation bay.

A complete check was carried out but nothing was found and the emergency was withdrawn an hour later, the sources said.

The flight is likely to take off for its destination Friday evening. No casualties were reported.
