Stranded Karnataka students including one from Udupi in Ukraine urge govt for help

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Feb 28: Eight students of Karnataka, including Rohan, a native of Udupi, have sent a moving video, in which they have urged the government to rescue them from the war zone as they have run out of food and water.

In the video, the youths are seen appealing for help. They said, “We are badly stuck in Kharkiv city. Our situation is extremely critical. For the past two days, we have not eaten anything. We are having only bread and chocolates. There is not proper light, water and air in the area where we are stuck. We are drinking recycled water.

“The Indian high commission and union government have to rescue us. If we are not rescued, the situation will go from bad to worse. When we were studying in college, the sound of an alarm used to wake us up. Now we have not slept for days due to continuous roar of bombs and missiles. We are scared that the building in which we are holed up might get blown away any time.

“We are asked to come to the border of Romania or Poland. But we are not in a position to even come out of our bunker. Poland and Romania are at a distance of 1500 km from the place where we are stuck.

“We are at a distance of 80 km from Belgrade airport. Now this airport is under the clutches of Russia. Indian government has to speak to Russian authorities and save us through Belgrade airport,” they said.

PM committed a blunder by remaining neutral. Nation repeated the same mistake of 1990 when Iraq invaded Kuwait. India has a long history of non-aggression. Our country had been a victim of aggression. We are bound to oppose invasions on all fronts irrespective of our relations with the aggressors.

In countries that have been damaged, even totally robbed and destroyed by the West, many people are still enamored with Europe and North America. It may sound incredible, but it is true.

Why don't you try to do it? Why don't you go to a place where bombs are falling and get our citizens out? Do you have the courage? Just sit here and talk! PM also. Only the face not work. Real work, real courage is shown by our real government officials- i.e. IFS officers in our embassies abroad. They are the best- courageous and dedicated. Its not easy, nearly impossible at times to rescue everyone, they are trying thier best!
