Udupi: Unusual means - Sri Vishwaprasanna Swamiji takes auto to reach destination

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Mar 5: Ancient Sanskrit scriptures say 'Trichakre Desha Sanchari' which means that a person with the sign of three wheels in one of his feet, is destined to keep travelling all his life. People often use this phrase jokingly to refer to those who frequently travel by auto rickshaw, or the auto rickshaw drivers.

Like his illustrious Guru, Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji, Pejawar Math head, Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji keeps moving around as he is involved with various religious and social activities.

On Friday March 4, the Swamiji was surprisingly caught riding an auto rickshaw and appeared to fit the bill of the said statement. He had taken part in the procession taken out to bring the stem of the tree which will be used as the new flag pole at Kadiyali temple. He was in a hurry to reach the venue of the next programme. But because of the said procession, the road was jam-packed with vehicles. The Swamiji realized that he would be late if he waited for his car to wade through this maze.

The Swamiji immediately stopped an auto rickshaw that came on his way and travelled by it through the interior roads to reach Lord Anantheshwara temple here where his next programme was scheduled. Hundreds of people witnessed this unusual sight and were taken aback at the scene of the Swamiji seated in an auto rickshaw.

Whether we are rich or poor, brahmin or dalit, BJP or Congress, hindu or muslim, black or white, priest or layman, we are all equal in front of our creator, the almighty. We are here today and gone tomorrow. Nobody owns this land and cannot take it with them when they go. It is high time people understand this reality and live in peace and harmony. Please don’t get carried away by politicians, their hatred, their communalism, their assurances, and their dramas.

In order to have the simplicity of mind, one must have the simplicity of lifestyle, which means one must be detached from gain or loss, pleasure or pain, honor or dishonor, happiness or distress. One must simply be seeking purification of consciousness. "Karm Karo, phal ki chinta mat Karo" is the wisest message the Bhagwad Gita gives us. Today, we are working only for money, a better house, a car, and for a secure future. We are so goal-driven, that we do everything only by thinking about the results. For instance, we all work extra hours during our appraisal time, thinking that our bosses will rate us highly on our performance evaluation. This is something we need to avoid. Only because, if expectations are not met, pain is inevitable. Therefore, keep working and don’t expect anything in return. Let God bless us all, not any person or political leader.

Nothing new if he travelled using a tuk - tuk (auto rickshaw) . He too is a human being. It would be astonishing if he used a cycle to reach his destination.
