Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Mar 10: Former vice president of NRI Forum Karnataka, Dr Arathi Krishna, said that efforts to bring back the body of Naveen Shekarappa Gyanagaudar from Haveri district, who was killed in shell attack by the Russian troops in Kharkiv city, Ukraine, are on. She said that the officials are expected to set the process rolling soon.

Arathi said that she has spoken to control room in-charge at the ministry of external affairs, Ramesh Babu, joint secretary, secretary for external affairs, and officials at the Ukraine border on the issue.

She stated that as per information, Naveen's body is in the mortuary and that the same would be preserved till the Indian authorities identify it, discuss the matter with the officials there, get the document of transfer, cross the border and bring the body back to India by the defence cargo flight. She said that as there are no officials from here in Ukraine, either one has to enter Ukraine with permission or a bus has to be dispatched to bring the body to the border from where the same has to be sent to the nearest airport. Speaking to a Kannada daily, she said she will continue to make efforts to bring the body back till this aim is achieved.
