Bengaluru, Mar 10: The BJP’s victory in four State Assembly elections, including Uttar Pradesh, is happy augury for Karnataka in the Assembly polls due in 2023 as it has enthused the party workers, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Thursday, March 10.

The resounding victory of BJP in Uttar Pradesh under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s charismatic leadership and the result oriented rule of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath proves that the double-engine government of Modi-Yogi has won the support and approval of the people, he said warmly complimenting Modi-Yogi as well as BJP national president J P Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their impressive performance, Bommai said.

The Chief Minister said the Prime Minister will be visiting Karnataka in April and the all programmes and plans to be implemented in the next one year will be unveiled during the visit.

“We are gearing up for the Assembly elections in 2023,” he said.

Poll results have come as shock to Congress: HDK

The results have come as a shock to the Congress party leaders, who are boasting of coming to power, said former chief minister and State JD(S) Chief H D Kumaraswamy.

The JD(S) leader said the Congress leaders were boasting of forming governments in Goa and Punjab and claimed that their party alone was capable of becoming an alternative to BJP in Karnataka.

“The JD(S) will fight the coming assembly elections in the State on the irrigation issues,’’ he said.

Kumaraswamy said the JD(S) was inspired by the outcome of West Bengal elections and Aam Aadmi Party’s triumph in Punjab and has strengthened the party’s resolve to go on its own.
