Udupi: Cases registered against three for uploading obscene videos on social media

Udupi, Mar 12: Cases have been registered against three persons from the district for violating the IT Act provisions. They have been accused of uploading lewd videos on social media. The cases are registered in the cyber crime, economic offences and narcotics (CEN) police station here.

Based on the report received from the department of CID special unit and department of economic offences in the office of the director general of police, Bengaluru, Anand from Uddalugudde Hanehalli in Barkur, Covin Menezes from Chantar, Brahmavar and Ratnakar from Udupi Bommarabettu have been booked for offence under the IT Act.

Anand has been accused of uploading an obscene video involving a man and a woman in his Facebook account on January 24, 2021. Colvin Menezes has been charged with posting an obscene video in his Facebook account on January 26, 2021. Ratnakar has been accused of uploading an obscene video on his Instagram account on January 23, 2021. The police said that these are punishable offences under the IT Act section 67 (b).
