Mangaluru: Holy Cross Church, Cordel celebrates Catechism Day

Mangaluru, Mar 12: Catechism Day was celebrated on Sunday March 6 during the 9.30 am mass followed by cultural programme and prize distribution. Fr Ivan D’Souza, professor, St Joseph Seminary Mangaluru concelebrated the Holy Mass along with Fr Jovin Sequeira and Deacon Vivek Pinto. In his homily, Fr Ivan D’Souza reflected on the Gospel of the day and emphasized the significance of knowing Jesus personally by everyone who is baptized. The liturgy as well as the choir was animated by the catechism students.

After the Eucharistic celebration, cultural programme began with the prayer song sung by children’s choir at 10.45 am in Frad Saib Hall. Fr Clifford Fernandes presided over the function. Fr Ivan D'Souza was the chief guest. Michael D’Souza, vice president Parish Pastoral Parishad, Lancy Sequeira, Secretary PPP, Fr Shaun Rodrigues, Fr Jovin Sequeira, Deacon Vivek Pinto, superiors of RMI, Bethany and Ursuline Convents and Prathiba D’Souza, co-ordinator of Sunday Catechism were present.

Students from III to X performed biblical dances and skit. Two students Shaina Rebello and Lionel D’Souza and Precilla D’Souza catechism teacher shared their experiences. This was followed by prize distribution ceremony. Teachers rendered their full support and cooperation. Students Rosita D’Souza and Anish D’Souza compered the programme. Veronica Rodrigues welcomed the gathering and Matilda D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks. At 12.30pm the curtains were drawn for the programme.
