Udupi: Man loses Rs 10.7 lac in online fraud, complaint filed

Udupi, Mar 12: A man lost Rs 10,71,938 in an online fraud. A complaint in this regard is filed in CEN crime police station of the district.

Adam Byari, resident of Beejadi received NAAPTOL online shopping scratch and win card through post on January 18. It was said that he won Rs 11.5 lac. Adam called the number that was mentioned on the scratch card (8334850744). The receiver asked Adam to WhatsApp the scratch card on mobile number 8101542763.

Later, the receiver made the victim believe that he is the representative of NAAPTOL and asked Adam Byari to transfer money in phases for TDS and other reasons. He got the amount of Rs 10,71,938 to various bank accounts. Adam Byari did not get the assured prize in the scratch card and also lost a huge sum due to the trick played by the fraudster.

Adam Byari duly filed a complaint on the matter with CEN police station.
