Udupi: Police crack whip against buses using shrill horns

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Mar 15: Police held a drive against buses having shrill horns on Tuesday March 15.

The cops confiscated the horns of buses who were causing noise pollution due to the high volume of the horns.

The operation was led by traffic sub inspector Abdul Khader. They mainly checked the express service buses that run between Udupi and Mangaluru. Police threw the horns from the hands of conductors and drivers.

The buses that violated the noise pollution levels were slapped with fines also.

This is to hoodwink the public. So many private buses use shrill horns n honk them indiscriminately. Where r the traffic cops at that time. Now some public must have complained, so they have awakened. Money will change hands and everything will continue as usual.

I welcome this, even though this has become an annual showmanship event all over India. This photo session misses the crushing by a bull-dozer photo. The police have no guts to crack the whip, i.e.: simply implement the law, by similarly pulling out all shrill horn-type loudspeakers mounted on umpteen building structures and crushing them and imprisoning the criminals who use them despite several court orders. It is easy for bullies to find the weakest, easiest targets and pretend they are great!

This is very good job from traffic Police department. But at the same time, this has become a fars. this drama is going to held once in a year. Shill horns are public newscence. This will affect not only to those public as well as to drivers. When they reach their age around 60+ ,automatically they will get the hearing problem and start to realize the mistake. RTO, TRAFFIC POLICE, ADMINISTRATION must educated and literate those drivers. Cancel the bus as well as route permits for 6 months. Automatically everything will be alright. Administration, rto, traffic Police must also warn ,horn sellers and Garage where they by and fix.

Stop all these feku natakams, at regular intervals, to fool the innocent citizens! Many do not know that these law enforcers are already in the bus cartels pockets for obvious reasons.

Police can do their job by outsourcing this business to those who installed them. Those found with shrill horns pay Rs. 5,000/= to the government and let the company uninstall them by being paid by the those who violated the law.

Loud horns might save lives since bus timings mean drivers HAVE to drive fast.

Most of the times I witness horns being used unnecessarily... Use them judiciously and not at will... I have never seen any driver using horns on Dubai roads unless it is emergency... Road speeds are much higher there and conditions more challenging too...

I don't understand why the police stop the buses on route carrying passengers for these checks? It puts lots of trouble on passengers of the bus. Police can easily get all these buses empty, in the bus stations. let them check there and let them not trouble the passengers who are on commute!

Our own version of Formula 1 race . These checks happen once in 2 years and in a few days the horns are re-installed.
