Kundapur, Mar 16: "National flag of our country represents our self-respect. It is our primary duty to pay respects to our national flag. Certain procedures have to be followed while hoisting the flag and lowering it. It is also important to preserve the flag by following guidelines provided for the same. We should be aware of all these things," said Kundapur taluk panchayat (TP) executive officer (EO), Shweta N.
She was speaking after inaugurating a seminar on information about the national flag organized under the joint aegis of Kundapur taluk administration, taluk panchayat, all the gram panchayats, district unit of Bharat Sevadal Samiti and Kundapur taluk Sevadal unit on Wednesday March 16.
Udupi district Bharat Sevadal Samiti vice president K C Rajesh, speaking on the occasion, said that the national flag reflects our sovereignty. "The national flag plays a stellar role in imbibing a sense of patriotism and nationalist ideology. Towards this end, this camp has been organized by Sevadal to refresh our knowledge about the national flag. Sevadal works to create sense of nationalism, integration and harmony," he explained.
Kundapur tahsildar, Kiran G Gouraiah, Kundapur taluk Sevadal president, Ganesh Kumar Shettty and Sevadal district committee member, Pundalik Marathe, also addressed the gathering.
District secretary of Bharat Sevadal Samiti, Aroor Thimmappa Shetty, who participated as resource person, gave information about the national flag in detail.
Kundapur taluk president of Primary School Teachers Association, Ganesh Kumar Shetty and others were present. Kundapur taluk youth services and sports department officer, Kusumakar Shetty welcomed. Sevadal district committee organizer, Pakkeera Gowda, compered the programme.
