Bantwal, Mar 17: Calls for voluntary bundh by Maulana Sageer Ahmed of Karnataka Ameer A Shariat opposing the High court judgement over Hijab received wide support across the taluk here.
Shops, business outlets and hotels belonging to Muslim communities remained closed. Buses and auto rickshaws did not get down to the road. Some educational institutes and Madrasas had declared a holiday. Most of the business activities at Kalladka, Panemangalore, Goodinabali and Bantwal Kelaginapete had remained suspended. Muslim community owned offices, workshops, vegetable shops, fish vending shops, transport organizations and contracting companies also remained closed.
Support in Vitla
Muslim traders at Vitla expressed their support and closed their shop shutters. Vitla Muslim Okkoota had expressed their support for Karnataka bund and requested nearby traders for voluntary bund. Madrasas run by mosques had declared a holiday.
Kavala Mudoor gram panchayat's SDPI supported member Shainaz N C Road and Safa Salma Kavalakatte had boycotted the meeting of the housing scheme and expressed support for the bundh.
