Hassan, Mar 18: In a gory incident reported from Doddapura on Arasikere road near the city on Wednesday March 16 evening, a married woman who refused to reciprocate a youth's love was murdered by the man. The accused has been arrested and is being interrogated.
The victim of this incident was Revathi (32). It is said that an unmarried man, Latesh, was pestering her to leave her husband and marry him. He also had posed her death threats if she failed to reciprocate his advances. As she did not show any interest in him, Latesh got angry. It is guessed that he committed this crime when Revathi was alone at her home.
A few days back, Latesh had told a few villagers that he wants to marry Revathi and that he would kill her if she does not agree to be his wife. The villagers had told him to shed eccentric behaviour and stop harassing the woman, the police said.
Revathi and Guruprasad couple have two children, Vasanth (12) and Tanushree (8). Guruprasad used to cultivate in a land leased from a local and also raised sheep and poultry birds. The couple, frustrated by Latesh's behaviour, had decided to shift to a rented house away from here. They had fixed a house on rent but the lady was killed before the family could relocate itself.
A case relating to the incident was filed in Hassan rural police station.
