Sullia/Kadaba/Beltangady, Mar 20: Many parts of Dakshina Kannada district including Sullia, Kadaba and Beltangady taluks received heavy rains accompanied by lightning and thunder on the afternoon of Saturday, March 19.

Ubaradka, Enmuru, Kollamogru, Nellur, Kemraje, Mettinadka, Karikkala, Paika, Panjikallu, Elimale, Chokkadi, Shreni, Kalanja and Kalmadka areas of Sullia taluk experienced copious amounts of rains.

Kadaba taluk's Noojibalthila, Renjiladi, Ichlampadi and Konaje received good rains. Cloudy weather was noticed right from the morning of Saturday and rains lashed in the afternoon.

At Kalmada, more than 150 arecanut trees belonging to agriculturist Sureshchandra were destroyed due to heavy winds.

Nandagokula Gaushala at Kalenja is severely damaged due to the rains and winds on the night of Friday. Some roof sheets flew with the wind while others got cut and fell on the cattle. More than eight cattle were injured. The loss is estimated to be between Rs 5 to 7 lac. Tahsildar Mahesh J was informed and he assured of spot inspection.

A tree got uprooted and fell on the road between Naravi-Marodi road. Hundreds of areacanut trees and rubber trees of Ashok Rai Pundikku, resident of Hunsekatte were destroyed.

In Karkala taluk many parts received rains accompanied by heavy winds. Trees fell at many places and relief works are in progress.

    Yes....there must have been solid wind before rains. We too had holiday cloudy weather even today ....So much destruction....!!! Already many suffer from viral cold/fever......As you said Rudy sir, These fluctuations, make the situation worse...
