Mangaluru, March 30: "Being Indians we should strive to protect the constitution of this country. There are forces who rule us by dividing us on communal lines. As Youth Congress we should stop this by uniting the people. Congress has its own history. Several leaders from the party have sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country. But, there is no contribution from RSS, SDPI and PFI for the freedom of this country. Hence, Youth Congress workers should work to bring the party to power in 2023," said state president of Youth Congress Mohammed Haris Nalapad.

He was speaking during Yuva Jagruthi Samavesha at St Sebastian Hall in Bendoorwell here on Wednesday, March 30.

"We are in a challenging situation in the country. Immediately, the next day after the election results of five states, the Congress executive committee meeting was conducted with the only idea of how to bring Congress back to power in the year 2023," he added.

He also said that the youth is the power of Congress. "All the Youth Congress workers should work for the party. In the membership drive, Karnataka is in the first position. But, unfortunately, Dakshina Kannada  did not achieve the expected target in the digital membership drive. It is  really painful. Compared to other parts of the state, Dakshina Kannada Youth Congress has a good reach and it is well organized", he added.

Speaking on the Hindu organizations boycotting Muslims doing business in Hindu fairs, he said, "First we are Indians and then we are proud Kannadigas." Now tell me that you will not allow a Kannadiga to do business," he challenged.

He also lauded Mithun Rai for providing him the opportunity to contest in the election held for the post of Youth Congress by withdrawing his nomination.

District Youth Congress president Lukman Bantwal said, "Fascists are making every effort to divide the country on the communal lines. This is the struggle between Gandhi's followers and the followers of Godse. Congress has built this nation after Independence. It is our responsibility to protect the constitution and the country. BJP is dividing the country on the basis of caste. Congress will not allow it to break this country. The communal parties like BJP, SDPI and PFI  did not contribute anything to the freedom of the country. These political parties are trying to divide the country and implement their agenda. Silence of good people is not good for the country."

Former minister B Ramnath Rai said, "Several deaths of Hindus and Muslims took place in this district. In any of the deaths, not even a single Congressman was involved in such acts. But, the names of BJP and SDPI workers are being heard in the murders. Congress believes in Ahimsa philosophy. Also, he said that the great leaders like Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the country.

Former MLC Ivan D'Souza said, "This convention of youth Congress proves that there is a future for the Congress party. The Congress party will come to power in 2024 at the Centre and 2023 in the state. Congress party is striving to protect the secularism of the country against communalism. Congress is the party that works for unity and equality. BJP is in power in the state through the back doors. BJP  is misleading the people of the country through hatred politics. We should teach a proper lesson by bringing Congress back to power in 2023 in the state and 2024 in the central."

Former MLA JR Lobo said, "Youth need not fear, there is a future for Congress. This convention of the youth Congress has proved it. Congress is essential for the country to uphold the secular fabric of the country and protect the democracy and diversity of the nation. The youth has the responsibility to bring back Congress to power, Hence, the Youth Congress should work in this regard."

Former MLA Abhayachandra Jain said youth is essential for every party, if there are no youth in any party, then that party will collapse. Senior Congress party leaders by allowing the youth to take responsibility should bring back to power and build the Congress party in the country.

Congress leader Mithun Rai said, "BJP is dividing the people by sowing seeds of poison. But, Congress is trying to unite the people of the country. BJP is involved in communal politics but the Congress is doing politics on development. The people who do business in Hindu fairs are the poor people. BJP is affecting the lives of poor people."

Karnataka state in charge of Youth Congress Anil Kumar Yadav, Vidya Balakrishnan, former MLA Moideen Bhava also spoke during the occasion.

During this occasion, Youth Congress block presidents and office bearers took the oath.
